Complete manual to activate Microsoft Project and Visio with OEM key

In this article we present you two detailed methods to activate Microsoft Project and Visio using an OEM key: via phone call and using the tool GETCID. Both processes will allow you to obtain the Confirmation ID required to complete activation.

Prerequisites

• Valid OEM key: A 25-character key for Microsoft Project or Visio.
• Product installed: Download and install the corresponding program from the following official links:
  • Project 2021 Professional
  • Project 2019 Professional
  • Visio 2021 Professional
  • Visio 2019 Professional

Common steps to start activation

1. Start the program: Open Microsoft Project or Visio installed on your computer.
2. Access the activation wizard:
   • Go to File > Account > Change Product Key.
   • Enter the 25-character OEM key and press Following.
3. Select the activation method: When prompted by the wizard, choose Activate by phone and click on Following.

Method 1: Activation via phone call

1. Get the installation ID:
   • A unique code called will appear Installation ID.
   • Select your country or region to view the corresponding phone number.
2. Call the number indicated:
   • Make the call and follow the instructions of the automated system.
   • When prompted, enter the Installation ID.
   • Note: If the system asks for the number of activated devices, respond with 0.
3. Receive confirmation ID: The system will provide you with a code called Confirmation ID. Write it down carefully.
4. Complete the activation: Enter the Confirmation ID in the wizard and click Following.

Method 2: Activation with GETCID Tool

1. Get the installation ID: Similar to the previous method, copy the Installation ID shown in the wizard.
2. Access the GETCID tool: Go to my-account/get-cid.
3. Generate the confirmation ID:
   • Enter the Installation ID in the tool form.
   • The tool will automatically generate the Confirmation ID.
4. Complete the activation:
   • Return to the activation wizard on your device.
   • Enter the Confirmation ID generated and click on Following.

Activation verification

Once the process is complete, the product status will change to ActivatedTo verify, go to File > Account and confirm the activation details.

Important notes

• OEM keys are tied to the original hardware and cannot be reused on other devices.
• If you encounter problems during activation, use the tool GETCID or contact Microsoft support.
